It is always a good feeling when a horse wins their maiden race. It was especially good this afternoon because with VARENNA MISS as she was set a tough task – she was a maiden having her second race start in a 0-72 race at Ballarat. It was wonderful to see her go on to win by 3.8 lengths!

Jockey Steven King was asked to ride her at the trials and since then he has been very keen to stick with her. Today we all saw why! In her first race start back in November 09 she was impressive but very green, having a long time out due to injury she has come back a very nice horse and has put together what is required of her on the track.

Trainer Tony Noonan was on hand at Ballarat for the win ‘We have always had an opinion of her but I knew that today would help to show us where she is at. I’m thrilled with the win and will now go and look at the program and see what our options are’.

‘Her owners Glenn and Kerry Fraser have been very patient with her and have given her all the time that she needed to develop and get over her injuries. I thank them for there patience and I hope that there are many more wins in stall with this exciting mare!’.

We are looking forward to her stepping out again in the near future!
