AFTER DERBY BARBIE & BREAKFAST
Nov 01, 2010
The rain came on Saturday and as predicted is continues on to Sunday. The poor weather saw the cancellation of the races at Mornington. It was very disappointing for the club as it was set to be the first meeting back on their new track. The weather didn’t deter our owners from Laurel Oak Bloodstock joining us for our breakfast and parade.
We were delighted when around 50 guests braved the conditions to join us. Having to duck for cover as we paraded their horses and a few other of our Spring hopefuls. The rain came but the spirits were high.
We then went onto Breakfast where tea and coffee was a big hit – but only due to the fact that it could warm the hands up! It was a lot of fun to catch up with many of our owners both locally and interstate.
A special mention also to Glenn Fraser, who is a long time client of the stable who had a Group 1 win with Sacred Choice at Flemington on Derby day. This is a wonderful achievement and it was great to watch the replay on Sunday morning with Glenn.
Unfortunately with the races off the Laurel Oak team then head back to Melbourne for a day of leisure.
At 6pm we started the annual ‘After Derby Barbie’. We were thrilled that so many owners and friends were able to come despite the conditions. As always it was great to catch up with so many people and have a drink, so great food and a dance at the end of the night! A special thank you to Tony Stama for the wonderful meat off the BBQ is was so tender and full of flavour.
Thank you to all those who came and made it a wonderful night we hope that you had as much fun as we did!
