RUNGRADO BREAKS THROUGH HIS MAIDEN STATUS AT BALLARAT AT HIS SECOND START

Aug 12, 2011

Away well, he settled just behind the pace before being pushed up as they cornered, he was still a little green in the straight but found the better ground and let down well to go to the line under the hands and heels of Froggy Newitt to score in the 1400m event by over 4 lengths.

This was an impressive win at just his second start, he still has a fair bit to learn, and probably wasn’t 100% at home on the heavy but clearly was in another class to his rivals. Our congratulations goes out to Alister Fraser who bought the colt with Tony at Scone Yearling Sale for the grand price of 28,000!

Whilst this striking grey son of Arena has a long way to go before he esculates to the heights of Alistair’s gun mare Ortensia, who Alister raced with Tony to win over $1m in stakesmonies, we were really pleased with this performance and Alister looks to have another very nice horse in the making.
