BELCENICA WINS - NOW ONLY ONE TO GO!
Jul 26, 2010
Tough mare BELSCENICA added another win to her record with a strong win at Moonee Valley on Saturday. From a wide gate on a rain affected track we opted to ride the mare back and hope for luck. We didn’t get all the luck as we were severely hampered on the home turn, however, we had momentum up and Jarrord Fry was able to keep her going and secure victory.
The victory of BELSCENICA means that we are now only one win away from equally our record for the most winners of the season. We have a few runners this week but we are very hopeful that we will break the record in the last week of the season!
The win of Belscenica was also very special for the stable as it was in the Travis Harrison Apprentices Cup, a race that remembers Travis who was a very promising apprentice jockey, tragically killed in a car accident in 1996.
Tony Noonan was thrilled with the win “What a great ride and he needed to after his ride at Sandown Hillside last Wednesday,” Noonan joked, referring to Belscenica finishing sixth behind Shysta last start.
“She balanced up and hit the line hard” he enthused.
Congratulations to her owners John & Virginia Thatcher, Vern Jones, Jonathon Thatcher and Richard Thatcher, she is a very honest mare and hopefully the wins will continue!
Also a reminder to book tickets for the Greendale Ball – all of the details are on our website!
