A DREAM SPIN FOR DREAM SPINNER ON DEBUT AT HER HOME TRACK

Apr 27, 2012

Congratulations to Laurel Oak Bloodstock and all the winning connections of DREAM SPINNER, who gave us all a pleasing surprise when she grew a new set of wings in the heavy conditions at Mornington yesterday.

Having only trialed fairly and looking like a mare that is going to want a trip there were not a lot of expectations for her at her first start. However being by Umatilla mare out of a Snippets mare her breeding would suggest that she would relish the wet conditions which she duly did, combined with a gift ride she was given by Jake.

Beginning well from barrier 3, Jake settled her back to have her coasting along a little worse than midfield before pushing up into the straight and then easing out into the clear to hit the front, sprouting wings with about a furlong to go, she went on to to go on and score by 1 ¾ lengths over Mistic Dancer and Miss Matty 2.5 lengths away in 3rd in the 1500m event for 3 year olds. This was a Super Vobis race so she also receives the Super Vobis bonus for her tenacious win.

A great start to the mares racing career posting her first win at just her first start and again a big congratulations to all involved with the filly.
