A double at Kyneton on Saturday capped off a great 24 hours for the Tony Noonan stable following on from the win of Zarzing at Pakenham on Friday.
The first of the double at Kyneton was a very impressive win by Return Journey in race one the 1118m Maiden on a Dead 5 track.
Well ridden by Brad Wallace (photo to left) from the outside draw, Return Journey sat outside the leader until the point of the turn, and then urged to the front to come away for a comfortable and impressive victory at only her second start. At her first start (also at Kyneton back in early November) the bay filly by Dylan Thomas out of River Lena ran a terrific third after leading until the shadows of the post. On breeding the filly is certain to get up to longer distances.
Congratulations to all owners – Louis Mihalyka and Laurel Oak Bloodstock, Braybook, D. W. Booth, Dr Gary Darby, J. Glenn, G.S. Grahame, P.A. Pick, M.A. Regan, Dr P.D. Braude, Mrs S.E. McKenzie, Paul Aalto and J. Goodwin.
Well done and congratulations to trainer Tony Noonan, jockey Brad Wallace, strapper Jen Duffy (two winners in two days) and all the staff at Greendale.
The second of the Kyneton double came up in race six with Amalgamate in the 0-62 Handicap over the odd distance of 1479m.
In bringing up a riding double, stable apprentice Brad Wallace settled the chestnut filly at the rear of the field until the 800m where he commenced a long sustained run to hit the front on the turn and then to career away in the straight for a very impressive two length win. It was the Zenno Rob Roy – Snazzy Nazzy fillies second win with her record now extending to 9 starts - 2 wins, 2 seconds and a third. There appears to be some nice races ahead in this campaign for Amalgamate.
Congratulations to owners Dr Peter Rofe (who recently visited the stables to see the filly on a trip down from Queensland), John Barrington, Perry Gunner, Phillip Reid, and David Wagner.
A big well done to Tony Noonan, three winners in 24 hours, Brad Wallace for his first double for the stable, strapper Viv Bertrand and again to all the staff at Greendale – terrific to see some great results from all your hard work.
Treble to Jake – congratulations to our leading stable apprentice, Jake Noonan on riding three winners over Thursday and Friday of last week. One for dad Tony, one for Danny O’Brien and one for David Hayes. Well done Jake.
