After a quiet period for the stable on the racetrack, it was terrific to see GRAND ORATOR win the $40,000 United Petroleum Benchmark 70 Handicap over 1200m at Yarra Glen on Sunday, 16th March. ‘AIDAN’, as he is known, is a stable favourite as he is honest as they come and always tries his best.

Third up from a spell, he had a little freshen up after a run at Caulfield and was back to the 1200m, which is short of his best distance but with a terrific ride from Jake Noonan, he lobbed in a perfect spot off good speed, was travelling like the winner coming four wide around the bend and held off Written Intent which came through on the inside for a great win by a length.

Congratulations to owners Laurel Oak Aidan Syndicate (L J Mihalyka), F W Cook, Mrs C M Cook, G Duffy-Smith, Mrs K A Fraser & Ms A L Goble. Thanks to Viv Bertrand who strapped the gelding and to all the riders and staff at the stables who have worked terribly hard on preparing Aidan for the races. We look forward to more success as he steps up in distance over the next few months.
