Temple Tilt terrific at Terang

Dec 08, 2014

Temple Tilt proved too classy at Terang this afternoon where he dashed away to win the Terang Vet Clinic Mdn Plate over 1200m.

Trained by Mornington-based Tony Noonan, Temple Tilt had been knocking on the door in his past few runs and a win was always just around the corner.

“He had no luck when he went up to Sydney last prep and he was brushing out the cobwebs when he ran first-up,” Noonan said.

“I’m very happy for the owners who know how good this horse is and got to see some of that today.

“He’s still a progressive type and will only improve over further distances.”

The 4-year-old gelding by Encosta De Lago is out Temple Of Peace which makes him a half-brother to Whobegotyou.

Taking full advantage of Temple Tilt’s excellent gate speed, jockey Reece Wheeler found the rail in transit and got a lovely trail into the race. Upon straightening, Temple Tilt travelled like the only horse in the race capable of winning.

“He went to sleep in the run which really suited him and really suited me,” Wheeler said.

“He’s still improving and will get better over further.”

The win continued a strong showing by the Noonan-Wheeler combination after the duo scored on Mezulla at Sale on Wednesday.
