White House Lady brings the boom at Bairnsdale for big win

Oct 02, 2016

Given a gem of a ride by Michael Carson, White House Lady exploded with a booming turn-of-foot at Bairnsdale this afternoon for Mornington-based trainer Tony Noonan.

“It was a 10 out of 10 ride by Mick,” Noonan said after the win.

“He was supremely patient on her because he has ridden her in most of her trackwork and had every bit of confidence in what she was capable of.

“It’s been a frustrating prep for connections who have had no luck getting suitable conditions throughout Winter but they’ve been patient and deserved this win.”

Jumping well from the gates, Carson just eased White House Lady ($3.40) backwards of midfield behind a strong tempo.

Easing out 400m from home, Carson effortlessly peeled out to spot the leader four lengths upon straightening. Once balanced up, the 5-year-old Commands mare let down with a booming turn-of-foot to hit the front with 100m to go before powering through the line for an comfortable 2.5L win ahead of Amenzel ($3.20F) and La Consolidata ($7.50) in third.

The win was White House Lady’s third of her career and continued the long-running and successful association between Noonan and Carson.
