Saturday double highlights ripper weekend of winners for Noonan

Jan 09, 2017

Not even Melbourne's soaring 37 degree heat over the weekend could stop Jake Noonan who produced a stellar weekend with winners on Friday night at Cranbourne, a Saturday double at Caulfield and another winner on Sunday at Mornington.

The four wins marked his best weekend since returning from a sickening fall back in May which left the Group 1-winning hoop out of action for five months whilst rehabilitating a broken leg sustained in the fall.

It was a welcome reward for Noonan whose four winners came for trainers he regularly rides trackwork for with Mick Price (Pete’s Dragon & Special Diva) and Michael Mehegan (Prussian Vixen & Mosaqua) each reaping the reward of Noonan's services.

Following the win on Special Diva, Noonan couldn’t wipe the smile off his face with the filly producing a special memory.

“She has a sentimental place in my heart as Dad trained the dam and I learned how to ride on Jacqueline Rouge from day one,” Noonan told g1x.com.au.

“She had a similar racing pattern to Special Diva - on speed and just tough to run down. There’s not much of this filly, but she has a real will to win and she showed that today.”
