Shares available in cracking Wandjina filly from very progressive family

Apr 22, 2018

It is my pleasure to offer an opportunity to race the cracking Wandjina filly that I was able to secure today for $45,000 at the Inglis VOBIS Gold sale after predominantly buying colts this season.

This filly is from a very progressive family and has all the makings of a filly that will perform on track and have terrific broodmare value in the future.

She is by Wandjina who won the Group 1 Australian Guineas before retiring at the end of his 3-year-old season to take up stud duties.

He was a tough horse on the track and we didn’t see the best of him before retirement. But with Wandjina being by Snitzel, this filly has the hottest bloodline in the country running through her veins.

The dam, Splat, is by More Than Ready who is in the elite echelon of broodmare sires with Group 1 winners Rebel Dane, Miracles of Life, Delectation, Atlante and La Lunna Rossa all being out of More Than Ready mares, as is Manolo Blahniq.

Something I look for in fillies is progression in the pedigree to add further value to them and they don’t get more progressive than this filly. She is the first foal whilst the second foal is by Written Tycoon (service fee $110,000) and the mare in now in foal to Zoustar (service fee $60,500).

I can also say with confidence that the pedigree will be getting an upgrade very soon because Splat is a half-sister to the dam of Sanctuaire who we have in the stable, and was just pipped on the line in her second start last week.

What initially attracted me to Sanctuaire was the fact she was from the family of Gunnamatta who I trained to win three Mornington Cups so it’s a family that continues to be very well supported by breeders.

Our vet, Dr Susannah Hawke, was happy to recommend this filly following clean x-rays and being Super VOBIS qualified, the filly is eligible to run in the lucrative VOBIS race series which is terrific for owners racing their horses in Victoria. Yesterday’s VOBIS Gold race day, for example, offered $1.65million exclusively to VOBIS horses.

Presenting as a really well-proportioned yearling, I consider this filly has a classic-type miler but capable of running sooner with that Snitzel blood in her. She has a terrific walking action and has already developed a strong backside.

I have attached her pedigree page and you can view two photos of her here:
