Premier Sale Recap from Tony Noonan
Mar 04, 2020
It’s been a whirlwind week for the stable which included the Inglis Premier Yearling Sale and to my delight, we have had an incredible amount of interest in our purchases, especially the grey Manhattan Rain colt we offered on Sunday.
Unfortunately for those who missed out, the colt was fully sold within 24 hours. This followed on from our Capitalist, Fighting Sun and Zoustar purchases which were sold without being offered wider.
Following a strong Summer on the track, I have been so pleased to see our yearling purchases get filled so quickly which is why I have to thank our loyal clients for your ongoing support of our stable.
Louis Mihalyka at Laurel Oak Bloodstock has been a terrific supporter over the years so I was very happy for him to purchase a Hallowed Crown filly for us which will be a Prostate Cancer fund-raiser horse - such a terrific initiative by Louis.
To cap off the sale with an emphatic winner yesterday when Sanctuaire romped in was just a cherry on top.
Given the significant interest in our yearlings this year, I have elected to offer one more which had originally been earmarked for a client.
The colt is by Tavistock which I view as a genuine Derby prospect because this colt is bred on the same cross as Derby winners Tarzino and Werther - by Tavistock out of a Zabeel mare.
Beyond those two, Tavistock has also produced Derby winner Tavago and 4-time Group 1 winner Voltstok’N’Barrell.
Despite being bred in New Zealand, the colt is VOBIS qualified which is ideal for staying horses racing in Victoria courtesy of the handy VOBIS Gold bonuses attached to races of 2000m+ here.
Whilst Zabeel mares have produced countless Group 1 winners, this specific Zabeel mare, Di Falco, was a $325,000 yearling before she retired unraced and sent straight to the breeding barn.
At the sale yesterday, I showed industry legend Quinton Scott the colt and did a short interview with him which you can watch here.
This Tavistock colt will be aimed at the 3-year-old staying races where his breeding suggests he is an ideal horse to target the VRC and ATC Derby.
If you would like to join us in racing this great-moving Derby prospect, please respond to this email firstname.lastname@example.org or call me on 0418 102 972.
You can also view his pedigree page here.
Once again, thank you very much to our terrific clientele for your ongoing support, to Inglis for putting on a excellent sale and my staff for doing a great job with the horses.
