Our Free Spirit showed there is still life in the old buy when a convincing winner of the last race at Yarra Valley on Saturday. Aided by a good barrier and a better ride from young apprentice Lachie Overall, Our Free Spirit came away at the finish to win by a half length. This was his fourth win of his career and he has placed on another eight occasions. 

The 6yo son of Unencumbered is a stable favourite as he has been around a while, and he has been very proud of himself since achieving the win on the weekend. Saturday's win was his third up run and as he gets older, he takes a little longer to shed the kilos and get to peak fitness, like many of us reaching middle age. He has only had thirty career starts so we are very hopeful that there is plenty of life left in him and more wins in store.



Saturday's win brings his career prizemoney over $115,000 and is just reward for his patient connections Mrs G A Noonan, Mr P A Doran, Mr D V Kirwin, Mr P A Stanlake, Dr L Stanlake, Mr D W Ridley, S R T Racing, Hunters And Collectors, Mr J T Barry & Mr A Westwood




Also our congratulations to apprentice Lachie Overall for a terrific ride, his first ride for Tony Noonan Racing. Let's hope we can combine for many more winners in the future.

Our Free Spirit is known as Garfield around the stable and has been at Greendale since his purchase as a yearling. He is a consistent galloper who always does his best on race day and is yet to crack a metro win, although coming really close last season. Tony will search through the racing calendar for his next target and lets hope he can salute once more.
