Protest Upheld For Acheter On Debut

Nov 14, 2024

It was an anxious wait for connections following the Tony Noonan Racing Social Syndicates Maiden Plate at Mornington on Tuesday but when " Protest Upheld " was announced over the PA system, there was a large cheer from the 160 guests of Tony Noonan Racing in the Silver Bounty Lounge on track. Acheter, the 3yo filly by Vadamos on debut had run a terrific race to narrowly get touched off in a tight finish but her run was impeded in the final stages and she was deservedly awarded the race after a lengthy protest.Special mention must be made to Dakotah Keane, our stable apprentice who rode her superbly from an awkward position in the early stages. She gave her a smooth and confident ride, and through no fault of her own found her run impeded in the final stages. Dakotah has an outstanding strike rate of 18% winners to rides at present and is looking forward to a busy and successful Summer racing season. It was a terrific effort by the filly on debut who cost just $32,500 at the NZB Karaka Yearling Sales last year and managed to win on debut only days before her actual 3rd birthday as she was foaled mid November 2021. Tony picked her out from the draft of Woburn Farm, and the first part of his plan has come to fruition as he explained at the time that she would be a nice filly who wouldn't race until she was a 3yo and expect further improvement as she matures and reaches 4 & 5 years old. Her pedigree suggests that she will enjoy more distance and physically she has appreciated the patient approach of Tony and the owners. She will head to the paddock for a well earned rest and return for the Autumn to see what distance and level she gets to. She has always been a kind natured filly and handled the occasion of her debut with aplomb. Her relaxed demeanour and great appetite will ensure she gives herself every opportunity to reach her potential and her future is very bright.Congratulations to all of the connections, some of which only joined the ownership in the past seven days. For those of you wondering about the name Acheter and its origins : Acheter is the french word for Purchase, and her dams name was Acquisto, which is the Italian translation for purchase. Well done to John Schuijers who put the french spin on the name due to Vadamos being a french bred stallion. The ownership group is made up of old and new clients, all of whom we are extremely grateful to for their continued support of the stable. Mrs G A Noonan, Mrs D M Kelly, Mrs C A Cushnahan, Mr T Daws, Mrs M Daws, Mr P Grant, Mr M J Patterson, Dr J A Schuijers, Mr P Brown, Mr T G Wilkinson, Mr J T Barry, Mr R Bedggood, Mr D W Bedggood, Lost Doggies, Mr D V Kirwin, Mr P Weiler, Mrs L Weiler, Mr J W McKay & K CampbellWe are already looking forward to the autumn and beyond with the beautiful Verity and hope she enjoys the rich Spring pasture while on her holidays.

GET INVOLVED IN TWO NEW 2YO FILLIES BY STRASBOURG AND DOUBTLAND JOINING OUR SOCIAL SYNDICATE TEAM

Sep 18, 2024

Our Social Syndicates owners have been having a terrific run in recent months, and in fact following the recent strong staying performance by Mystic Vamp to break her maiden at Pakenham, we find ourselves in the fantastic position where every one of our current Tony Noonan Social Syndicate horses that has been to the races is now a winner. If we say so ourselves that's a great result by any measure, but even more so when you consider that all of our owners in these horses have been able to get involved with friends and community members for no upfront fee and an extremely modest monthly share of training expenses (in most cases $25 a month).  It's been fantastic to see in recent months many of the owners of Socially Sassy, Spoken Heiress and now Mystic Vamp enjoying the excitement of their first ever winner at the races. However as anyone who has ever had a share in a horse knows, it's always the next one that is going to be the champion that we (and Tony) have waited for.OUR NEW SOCIAL SYNDICATE FILLIES To that end Tony has recently introduced 2 very promising new 2yo fillies to our Social Syndicates stable. Both are big strong fillies by promising young sprinting sires, that we are optimistic will see racing action as 2 year olds. Both have already generated strong interest but there is still space for groups who may be interested in a 5% or greater share to get involved. Or it may be that your group would like to split 10% between the two. BAY FILLY BY STRASBOURG from HIGHLEIGH by SO YOU THINK                                               (see accompanying video)  Already well ahead of the curve having not only been broken in but has recently completed her first period of stable education at Greendale.Tony's intention is now to give her a short break in the paddock before bringing her back for a late spring / summer preparation where she will tell Tony how far she is able to go at this stage of her careerShe is a strong robust filly who has so far done everything rightHer sire Strasbourg was a Group 2 winner as a 2yo and is a son of the great stallion I Am Invincible. His first crop are now 3yo's and from a small number to race he has sired Group 3 winner Colmar, stakes placed Flying Straz and Stormbourg, placed in the $1mil Showdown at Caulfield Her dam Highleigh is by the champion stallion So You Think and is a half sister to 5 winners including multiple Group 1 winner Danleigh. Highleigh won 2 races from 10 starts in NSW and is already the dam of recent impressive Pakenham winner Fire HighBAY FILLY BY DOUBTLAND from STARVASIVE by STAR WITNESSAnother big bay filly is who a little behind her stable mate in her progress but hey, Makybe Diva didn't race until she was 4!Broken in and Tony will look to bring her into the stables later in the spring for her initial educationShe has a bit of attitude - a bit like her mother who Tony successfully trained - and while that may be slowing her progress a little at the moment it may well hold her in good stead further down the trackThis filly is by first season sire Doubtland, an unbeaten stakes winning 2yo by champion sire Not A Single Doubt, sire amongst many many others of Everest winner Classique Legend. Doubtland was blessed with outstanding acceleration which he hope he will be passing on to his progenyThe filly's dam Starvasive is by Star Witness (sire of Dazzling Lucy) and was trained by Tony to 3 wins as well as being twice city placed. She had brilliant speed, often leading in her racesKEEN TO FIND OUT MORE?If you are part of a group or even an individual that would like to know more about either of these fillies or how our Social Syndicates work generally then please drop me a line at john@tonynoonanracing.com.au or on 0413 271235If you aren't already part of our Social Syndicates groups then we would love you to get involved with us and enjoy fun and affordable racing with us and your friends, family or community All the best John Mathieson

UPCOMING SOCIAL SYNDICATE RACEDAY - MORNINGTON TUESDAY NOVEMBER 12

Sep 16, 2024

In recent months our Social Syndicate horses have been doing us proud with Socially Sassy, Mystic Vamp and Spoken Heiress all breaking through for their first wins and Dazzling Lucy continuing to give her all in quality races both in Sydney and Melbourne..In fact every one of our current Social Syndicate Horses that has raced is now a winner - a truly outstanding strike rate at any time, but especially when you consider our Social Syndicate horses have cost their owners zero up front and just a small monthly training fee to get involved. We have recently had further exciting news with Laurel Oak Bloodstock extending Lucy’s lease for another season and we also have 2 new 2 year old fillies by Doubtland and Strasbourg available for lease, so there is plenty to celebrate from recent months.   And what better way to celebrate than to get together at this year's Social Syndicates Raceday at "Marvellous Mornington". Last year’s raceday was a tremendous success with over 170 attendees and a full board of entertainment and prizes coordinated expertly on the day by Tony. This year's Tony Noonan Social Syndicates Raceday has now been set for Tuesday November 12 and you can expect many of the same features that made last years event such a success with exclusive access to the Silver Bounty Lounge and the Members enclosure, a 2 course dining extravaganza, tea and coffee, racebook, entertainment, prizes and womens and mens Fashions on the Field. All this for just $70.And if Tony can train a winner or Dakotah or Jake can ride one we may also have a win on the punt and pay for our lunches!ALL ARE WELCOME - YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE CURRENTLY PART OF ONE OF OUR SOCIAL SYNDICATES TO ATTEND.So if you enjoy the races and a fun day out, get a group together or come on your own - we will make sure you are looked after. To register your interest or for more information contact John Mathieson at john@tonynoonanracing.com.au or on 0413 271235.

Distance No Query For Mystic Vamp

Sep 3, 2024

At Pakenham on Friday evening, Mystic Vamp was looking to break her maiden after some very promising runs at 1600m during August. Although the stable was confident she would be very competitive, stepping out to 2200m for the first time was the only query. The lack of a suitable race option at 2000m was a concern and connections were left with no option but to roll the dice and trust her preparation would help her see out the extra 600m.Her recent runs didn't go unnoticed by many, and race caller Terry Bailey even made her his best bet of the night. Her loyal band of Social Syndicate owners at home and on track made sure she was kept safe in the market by bookmakers, eventually starting at $5.50.She began well from the barriers and held a forward position in running under Jake Noonan and at halfway you couldn't have written a better script. That's when things changed though, when a couple of riders unhappy with the tempo of the 2200m contest got itchy feet and injected some pressure to the race. Jake's patience in trusting his filly and allowing the others to make their early move was probably the winning move as when many of his rivals were out of petrol halfway up the home straight, Mystic Vamp was only getting into top gear and had plenty left in the tank due to a 10/10 ride from Jake.Mystic Vamp showed a great will to win and confirmed her superior stamina to win going away by 1.25 lengths. The large group of Social Syndicate owners present were heard cheering her home as far away as the village of Nar Nar Goon and no doubt the cheers were just as loud for those who watched on TV.I'm not sure anyone would have thought when Mystic Vamp arrived at Greendale, she would be breaking her maiden over 2200m and her forte would turn out to be at staying distances. She was an athletic leggy filly but not overly big and the patience of Tony  & connections to allow her to mature has paid dividends. There is no doubt that having a couple of runs during Summer followed by an Autumn break has had a real impact on her maturity both physically and mentally and as a consequence she had the skills and strength to see out the 2200m distance on Friday evening. Mystic Vamp is another winner for the Tony Noonan Racing Social Syndicates, which brings together groups of friends and colleagues to enjoy the thrill of ownership for a reasonable set fee with all the benefits of regular ownership with no initial outlay. Mystic Vamp was offered to Tony for lease by stable client and breeder John Frankhuisen and one look at her pedigree was enough for Tony to know quality well bred filly's like her don't come around often for lease.Mystic Vamp's mother She's A Vamp is a daughter of VRC Vanity Stakes Gr.3 winner Musidora thus making her a half sister to multiple stake winner and Golden Slipper place getter Tulip and Sacred Eye winner of the MRC Caulfield Classic Gr.3 and Gr.1 place getter.Mystic Vamp looks to have lots of potential over staying distances but according to Tony we will have to wait to see her back at the track. The plan is to give her a well earned break now and bring her back over Summer and Autumn when the tracks will be very suitable for her. She will benefit greatly from a rest on the Spring grass now and it will set her up for a succfessful preparation next time around.Congratulations to all of the wonderful syndicates who have been a great support to Dot so far in her career. A special mention to John Mathison and all the syndicate managers who coordinate their members and make the experience so enjoyable for all. Looking forward to Summer and more wins for Mystic Vamp.

Dominant Wins Again At Wangaratta.

Sep 1, 2024

One thing is for sure, the Dom Racing Syndicates love a day at the races and no matter where they have a runner, you can bet your life they will be well represented to cheer their horse on, and win, lose or draw a good day will be had by all. That was the case at Wangaratta last Saturday afternoon when Dominant Miss travelled up the Hume Highway to Wangaratta in search over her 2nd victory in her 9th start at the races. Since her excellent maiden win at Werribee, she has run creditably on three occasions and on occasion has cost herself by failing to run straight when the chips were down. The stable was full of confidence heading to Wangaratta as Tony had tinkered with her gear in track work leading in and thought the addition of a cross over noseband may be the gear change she needed to produce another positive outcome. The booking of a senior rider in Jake was another change which we had hoped may bring about a change in fortune.Things could not have gone to script any better and Dominant Miss began well and sat outside the leader. Jake held her together until the time was right and when he asked for an effort, he got a terrific response and she went away for a comfortable 1.25 length win. A terrific result for connections who were heard cheering loudly as she past the line. Dominant Miss was purchased by Tony at the 2022 Vobis Gold Sale for $28,000 and is from the 2nd crop for stallion Overshare. He is a stallion who is getting regular winners from a very reasonable stud fee and has Gr.1 winner Lady Laguna as his headline act. Dominant Miss is the first foal from mum Sweet Temptations who now has a 2yo colt by Pariah and a yearling Colt by Kings Legacy on the ground.Dominant Miss has come through that race in terrific shape and connections will be hoping she can go on with the job in hand now. There are plenty of sprinting options for her coming up in September and hopefully it continues to rain and the tracks are suitable for her. Congratulations to The Dom Racing 1 & 2 Syndicates and let's hope there are many more wins in store for "Olga" and many more successful road trips for the loyal team of owners.

Winter is Wonderful for Herbert Park

Aug 15, 2024

Herbert Park went into plenty of black books after her first up win this preparation at Echuca. Those who have followed her since have had a profitable time as she put three wins together culminating in an impressive win in the last 3yo fillies race of the season at Caulfield.Herbert Park had shown her liking for a wet track when winning on debut at Werribee in December. Given the unlikely event of striking a Heavy track in December, the stable were not sure what do expect that day although she had shown plenty in her fast work and trials leading in. Jake Noonan was in the saddle that day and she let down nicely to win going away. Her effectiveness in the wet going prompted Tony to put her away shortly after and get her ready for a winter campaign. She resumed at Echuca with an impressive win and followed that up with an excellent mid week win at Sandown, giving stable apprentice Dakotah Keane her first metropolitan win. A special day all involved in the stable and great to have owners Danny & Carol Watson, Ken Ward and John O' Neill on track to enjoy a first metro win for horse and rider. On the morning of her last win, everyone at Greendale was doing a rain dance as the expected rain had not yet come. In fact only 30 mins before Race 1 the rain finally came and the track became rain affected and played right to her strengths. She sat midfield under Jake Noonan and let rip with a devastating turn of foot to come away for a memorable win and a great finish to the racing season. She has building an enviable CV with four wins from six starts and over $230,000 in prize money and Super Vobis bonuses. The filly's exploits on the track have been a source of great joy for connections who bred the filly from their very talented race mare Elite Elle. She too burst onto the scene winning her first four starts in 2012, the last of which being the Quezette Stakes at Caulfield. In later seasons she won three more times with numerous placings including in Stakes grade. She retired to stud having won over $430,000 for connections. The name Herbert Park was chosen by part owner John O' Neill who grew up in Dublin, Ireland before moving to Melbourne many years ago. Herbert Park is a beautiful green space on the southside of Dublin City and a peaceful and beautiful haven away from the hustle and bustle of city life. An appropriate name for such a beautiful and talented filly.Although we are enjoying the mild conditions in Melbourne at present, it is not ideal for Herbert Park who continues her daily training and is waiting for the heavens to open and bring the August weather we are used to here in Melbourne. There are plenty of wins to come and all at Greendale are waiting patiently to see her back at the track.

Cinque Ponte gets off the mark at Echuca

Aug 14, 2024

It may have been just a Sunday maiden victory but for connections this win was extra special for a couple of reasons. Many of the ownership group are clients who bred the filly from Pirellina, whom Tony trained for two wins back in 2018. When Tony set eyes on Cinque Ponte at the 2022 Vobis Gold Yearling Sale, he decided then and there he had to have her and purchased her for $50,000. Tony invited the breeders to race a portion of the filly and thankfully everyone agreed.Cinque Ponte is the first foal from the mare and given her conformation and size, the mare is going to make a fantastic broodmare for many years to come. She now has a Shamus Award Colt and a Russian Camelot filly on the ground and her future looks bright.Early in 2023, Cinque Ponte had a mishap while in the spelling paddock having fun with her paddock mates. It's fair to say they were nervous times in the days and weeks after the accident as it was touch and go whether she would live let alone race. She proved to be an excellent patient at the South East Veterinary Hospital and her recovery, although slow was flawless and only a matter of months later she was back in Greendale and going about her work. Since then, Cinque Ponte or Pamela as she is affectionately known in the stable has become a stable favourite. She has a beautiful temperament and has always shown nice ability, all the time knowing she may need some time to mature into her big frame and to catch up for lost time due to her earlier paddock mishap. Two runs earlier this year gave her the race experience she needed and after some more barrier training with Julien Walsh to sharpen her skills we made the trip to Echuca quietly confident the step up to 1400m and Good track would be exactly what she needed to break through.Jarrod Fry gave the daughter of Toronado a 10/10 ride to win going away and provide connections with a perfect end to the week. The fact that the stable have always thought she will excel over more distance is cause for great optimism going forward. She will now step up in grade and distance and see if she can make it two in a row for her loyal and patient connections. The win of Cinque Ponte was our first winner for the new season and meant we kicked off where we finished last season. The stable has had a terrific end to 23/24 with the horses racing in great form. Herbert Park x 2, Joon Ho, Dazzling Sky and Spoken Heiress were all winners in the last month of the season and we will be hoping they can continue on their winning ways over the coming weeks.

Another Successful Trip To Karaka.

Feb 5, 2024

Tony has returned from the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sales a happy man having purchased two nice colts to join the team at Greendale. Karaka has been a happy hunting ground for Tony over the years having purchased Purple Groove, Manolo Blahniq and Hickok to name a few. New Zealand has the perfect climate and rain fall to breed tough and durable racehorses and NZ breds have held their own and over achieved for decades.Considerable investment in NZ racing and breeding over the past few years has shown in recent results in Australasia. NZ Breds have returned to the heady heights of the 80's and 90's and there is a real sense of optimism for the industry there right now.Tony's fist purchase was a Super Vobis and Vobis Gold qualified colt by Strasbourg - Uncovered Beauty. A precocious type who will be nominated for the Karaka Millions Race Series, he was the stand out pick for Tony in Book 2. "A natural running type with great strength, I was particularly impressed by his conformation and walk. Being qualified for the Vobis & Vobis Gold Scheme is the cherry on top"On Friday, Tony had to wait until towards the end of the sale to sign for the Shocking - Wychwood Colt from Windsor Park Stud. I'm Thunderstruck has been the headline act for Shocking in recent years and he is building a very solid list of Stakes performers from 1400m to 3200m, underlining their speed, soundness and durability." The Shocking Colt has great size, strength and scope and strikes me as a 1600m to 2000m horse in time. He has the speed influence of Green Desert on his Dams side which has worked so well in New Zealand over the years. An athletic type with a great walk and a handsome head. He looks a bargain at $30,000 NZD".Shares are available in each horse separately but Tony will also package them both together for those interested. It may appeal to some to have double the fun with an interest in both as they are different types. The Strasbourg, an up and running 2yo speed type and the Shocking a strong athletic colt who will continue to improve as he mature from his 3yo season. **Look out for Tony's Summer Special Offer for those who take a 5% Share in both horses at the bottom of this email**  Strasbourg – Uncovered Beauty Colt     Sale Price $90,000 NZD Described by Tony as one of the standout colts in Book 2 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale, this Chestnut Colt is a more precocious type than is generally found in New Zealand. Born and Bred at Little Avondale Stud, this Colt was conceived in Victoria where his sire Strasbourg stands, and this means we have the added Vobis Silver, Vobis Gold and Vobis Sires bonuses to race for in the future.Given his precocity, the Colt will be paid up for the Karaka Millions Race Series which offers over $5,000,000 in prize money for graduates each year. This colt has the strong physique and the athletic walk of a precocious 2yo and he will travel straight back from New Zealand to Victoria to begin the education process after a short break in the paddock. His sire Strasbourg, a magnificent son of I Am Invincible, was a multiple Group winning 2yo for Peter & Paul Snowdon who cost $750,000 as a yearling himself. He has been a real success in the sale ring for breeders and has hit the ground running with 2 winners from 2 runners from his first 2yo runners. His Dam Uncovered Beauty was a winner at 1200m and is by leading sire Per Incanto. On the maternal side there are many precocious 2yo's littered through the pedigree which is no surprise given the maternal Grandsire is none other than Danehill himself. Interestingly this Colt is bred has Danehill on both sides of his pedigree. At $90,000NZD we believe this colt offers outstanding value for a precocious early running type. He has been reared at the fantastic Little Avondale nursery where 41 Gr.1 winners have been born and raised and unusually for a NZ bred is Vobis and Vobis Gold eligible which is so important here in Victoria. To view his NZB Sale page click here    https://www.nzb.co.nz/sales/24kbb/10215% Share Price Australian Dollars: $5375.00 & GSTItemised Cost to 29th February 2024FALL OF HAMMER    $87,000INSURANCE               $ 4,000KARAKA MILLIONS    $ 3,000VOBIS & V GOLD       $ 1,600FLIGHT TO AUS         $ 7,500FEB NZ AGISTMENT  $ 1,500NZ TRANSPORT         $ 1,250VETERINARY              $    500SALES EXPENSES     $ 1,500TOTAL COST EXCLUDING GST = $107,850.00If you would like to learn more, please email admin@tonynoonanracing.com.au or call Tony on 0418102972.Shocking – Wychwood Colt    Sale Price $30,000 NZD For over 40 years, the Schick family have been to the forefront of the New Zealand breeding industry at their Windsor Park Stud just outside Cambridge. During that time they have raised and grazed many champions of our sport and stood some over New Zealand's best stallions over the journey. At the New Zealand Yearling Sales, the Windsor Park draft are always sought after and it's often the first stop for trainers and agents alike at inspection time. Tony picked the Shocking - Wychwood Colt on his shortlist and had to wait until the last day of the Karaka Sale to get the one he wanted for $30,000NZD.This colt caught Tony's attention as a strong athletic type with a good walk and great looks. Shocking's genetic versatility boosts his appeal at stud, having sired Stakes winners from 1400m to 3200m and an impressive 10% of his 205 winners to date have won Stakes races. It's no surprise when you look at the Sires pedigree with Street Cry and Danehill the speed and stamina influences of his sire line. The appeal of the Shocking breed is that he produces horses with speed to win races at 1400m but the toughness and versatility to get further, I'm Thunderstruck, Shock Em Ova, Defibrillate and Surprise Baby are names we are all familiar with and Tony believes with the speed influence of Green Desert on this colts maternal side, he is a colt who will be up an running as a late 2yo/early 3yo and eventually get to an optimum distance range of 1600 to 2000m.Click on the link below to view his sale page to view his photos, farm video and pedigree page.https://www.nzb.co.nz/sales/24kbb/10505% Share Price Australian Dollars: $2125.00 & GSTItemised Cost to 29th February 2024FALL OF HAMMER     $ 29,000INSURANCE               $  1,600FLIGHT TO AUS          $ 7,500FEB NZ AGISTMENT  $ 1,500NZ TRANSPORT         $ 1,250VETERINARY              $    500SALES EXPENSES     $ 1,500TOTAL COST EXCLUDING GST = $42,850.00TONY'S SUMMER SPECIAL OFFERTake a 5% share in both Yearlings from Karaka with all training fees included until February 28th 2025 for the special price of $10,000.00 & GST.    ** NO FEES UNTIL MARCH 2025**For further information or to get involved email admin@tonynoonanracing.com.au or call Tony on 0418 102 972

RECORD TURNOUT FOR SOCIAL SYNDICATE FILLIES DEBUTS

Jan 16, 2024

Well, records are made to be broken and so it was when 230 highly enthusiastic Social Syndicate owners and guests descended on Mornington on a perfect New Years Day to witness not one, but two of our Social Syndicate fillies in Mystic Vamp and Socially Sassy make their much anticipated debuts. This was a record Social Syndicate turnout obliterating the previous record of around 185 at Mornington 2 years ago when La Pluie and Dazzling Lucy won successive races for us and placed a severe strain on the club's sandwich and alcohol supplies. Many who were there on New Years Day were first time owners and the excitement in the air was palpable from the moment the race club threw open the gates and our owners swarmed on to the track faster than ants at a picnic!Well we couldn't quite emulate that winning double from 2 years ago, but I think every one of our owners on course and off would have walked away confident that they have got themselves a small piece of a filly that will give them plenty to look forward to, whichever one they are involved in (or both in a number of cases). Both our girls ran super races but as we feared pre-race the wide gates both drew were less than optimal, and in the case of Mystic Vamp her racing manners probably didn't help a lot either. Nonetheless both our fillies finished off with gusto in spite of their tough runs. Socially Sassy's outstanding second had the trainer and jockey just as excited as her owners with jockey Jake Noonan,  describing her performance to owners as "Socially Sensational" when he returned to scale. "Gabby" has already gone for a scheduled break with Tony's plan being to come back and head towards metropolitan 3yo races over a bit more ground in her next prep in the late autumn / early winter.                          Mystic Vamp ("Dot") will have learnt a great deal from her day out and will continue her preparation. She has good pace and with a better gate and the experience under her belt expect her to be very competitive at her next start. As always after a big day thanks to many people - to all the team at Mornington for accommodating so helpfully and efficiently our record breaking crowd; again to our fantastic Syndicate managers for coordinating their troops so brilliantly and also to the owners of our budding Social Syndicate champs - John Frankhuisen from Cornerstone Stud in SA with Mystic Vamp, and Kris Gorrie with Socially Sassy for entrusting their horses to Tony and our thrilled crew of Social Syndicates owners. All our Social Syndicate horses are leased allowing our owners to become involved with no upfront cost and a small monthly charge to each Syndicate member.I know some of you met Kris Gorrie at the track as she took over the raceday strapping duties for her beloved Grunt filly. Her enthusiasm for "Gabby" has been infectious over recent months and her girl did not let her down first up.  I don't doubt Kris will be close at hand every time she races. And of course thanks to all our members, many of whom were at the races to see their horses for the first time. Feedback from owners on the day was terrific, but if we didn't catch you on the day I trust you had a fabulous time and where possible will be back again with your fellow Syndicate members to follow your horse wherever it races! As always to learn more about getting involved with Social Syndicates call or Email John on 0413 271235 or at john@tonynoonanracing.com.au

SOCIAL SYNDICATES GOES BIG AT MORNINGTON RACE DAY

Dec 6, 2023

Move over The Everest, The Big Dance, The Barn Dance, The Gong, etc etc. Tuesday November 14 saw Victorian racing finally fight back hard against the succession of meaningless pop up races introduced in Sydney in recent years, with the introduction of Victoria's own Everest, the Tony Noonan Social Syndicates Maiden Plate. Run over the “classic distance” of 1000 metres at prestigious Mornington Racecourse, it was won impressively by Our Cracklin Rosie, who immediately showed what a great form reference the TNSSMP (as it is already known by industry insiders) is, by heading to Moonee Valley for a repeat win at her next start. And there to bear witness to the inaugural running of this soon to be time honoured classic were over 170 of our Social Syndicate members who enjoyed an outstanding 2 course lunch, a chance to get together with fellow members and an afternoon of unparalleled excitement and  entertainment led by the maestro Tony Noonan, who by the reckoning of many there can work a crowd as well as he can train a horse.                           The day had it all as they say in the Country Racing ad. It featured competitions, prizes, the Men’s and Women’s “Fashions in the Silver Bounty Lounge”, a Punters Club, a chance to head to the Winners Bar after our race, revealing interviews by Tony with prizewinners, popular stable jockeys Jake and Dakotah and Assistant Trainer Tom Noonan and to top everything off we finished the day with musical entertainment from renowned stable duet Imogen and Clive. Imogen and Clive didn’t perform Cracklin Rosie in honour of our race winner, but they did perform another Neil Diamond classic in Sweet Caroline! Dakotah also rode Lady Tino to victory in the second leg of the Quaddy (although as an odds on fave Lady Tino destroyed our quaddy dividend!) and told us about her boxing past, gave us an update on her personal life and divulged what kind of boss Tony was. Jake gave us the secrets behind his ability to consistently ride light at 54kg this spring and it didn't involve joining us for afternoon tea.   The feedback Tony and I have had since the day has been fantastic and we look forward, with the help of current and prospective new Social Syndicate members to getting this years 170 people up to perhaps 300 for a similar event next year. THANK YOUS There are many people to thank after an event like this. Firstly thanks to Mornington Race Club and in particular Steve Wicks who worked with us so diligently to put everything together. Thanks also to the kitchen, bar and front of house staff who did such an outstanding job looking after us on the day. Thanks also to our financial supporters for the day in Kirks Hotel, Steeples Mornington and the Frankston Theatre Group who helped us out with vouchers and tickets as prizes for our winners.  Support them all with enthusiasm if you can - I want their money next year!!!! Thanks to Jake, Dakotah, Tom, Imogen and Clive for lending their time and efforts to the day, and to Caitrin Kelly from the MRC Committee who spoke to the gathering and hosted our members in the Winners Bar. And in particular thanks to all our Social Syndicate owners, whether present on the day or not, for their outstanding support – there is no doubt that those who get involved in TNR Social Syndicates are people that want to get out there and have a good time and they always turn up to Racedays, stable visits or functions like this with a full on positive attitude. In particular I’d like to thank our wonderful Syndicate Managers who as always did a spectacular job in organising their troops, collecting the money etc. Social Syndicates is a tremendous concept giving all our members the chance to share fully accredited horse ownership with friends and community members for around the price of a largish cappuccino each week, but it would not exist without the brilliant efforts of our Syndicate managers. Finally thanks also to everyone there for enthusiastically supporting Tony’s suggestion to donate the proceeds of our Punters Club (approx. $240) to the Very Special Kids charity.                                                  WANT TO KNOW MORE ABOUT SOCIAL SYNDICATES? As always if you were there and had a good time and think others you know deserve to be a part of it, or you weren't there but want to know more about Social Syndicates, then feel free to give me (John) a call on 0413 271235 or drop me an email at john@tonynoonanracing.com.au
