Dazzling Sky eased to victory at Bendigo recently for his second win of his career but the lead up to the race was not without it's dramas. Dazzling Sky was ready for action at Geelong on the Friday before, only for racing to be abandoned before the last race of the afternoon. He was well found in the market that day and at the time it may have seemed like an opportunity missed. Thankfully there was a suitable option in the RMBL Rising Stars ( Apprentices Only ) BM 58 over 1400m on December the 3rd and this time the weather gods were kind, allowing just enough rain to fall for the track to be rated a Heavy 9.
His first up run at Mornington showed connections he was back in good form but a little time had passed before his next run and the jump from 1200m to 1400m on Heavy track was the only slight concern on the day. Those worries eased when Dakotah Keane eased him out three wide and out of danger and it was all plain sailing from the home turn as he cruised to a three length victory carrying 59kgs.
His form on Heavy ground is terrific with two wins and a second from three starts but his recent first up run on firm ground at Mornington shows that he can continue to run well over Summer on better going. He has now won or placed in five of his nine runs and he is improving as he ages and matures like a fine wine. He has several options in the coming weeks and at this time of year he could well put his hand up for a metropolitan race and given his form early in the preparation, he can certainly measure up.
Winning jockey Dakotah has ridden fifteen winners so far this season and is another to follow over the summer months. She has ridden nine winners from her last fifty rides, currently striking at 18% and has caught the attention of leading stables as we begin the busy Summer racing season. A special mention to Brian, our winning strapper on the day who also ensures the horses have a smooth ride to and from the track as our trusted truck driver.
Dazzling Sky is the 4th foal of winning Written Tycoon mare Sky Dazzle. All of the progeny to race have been multiple winners now and we currently have the 2yo filly by Impending in work at Greendale named Brilliant Horizon. Congratulations to Laurel Oak and all of the connections and hopefully there are many more wins in store regardless of the weather.
