Shocking - Wychwood Colt

For over 40 years, the Schick family have been to the forefront of the New Zealand breeding industry at their Windsor Park Stud just outside Cambridge. During that time they have raised and grazed many champions of our sport and stood some over New Zealand's best stallions over the journey. At the New Zealand Yearling Sales, the Windsor Park draft are always sought after and it's often the first stop for trainers and agents alike at inspection time. Tony picked the Shocking - Wychwood Colt on his shortlist and had to wait until the last day of the Karaka Sale to get the one he wanted for $30,000NZD.This colt caught Tony's attention as a strong athletic type with a good walk and great looks. Shocking's genetic versatility boosts his appeal at stud, having sired Stakes winners from 1400m to 3200m and an impressive 10% of his 205 winners to date have won Stakes races. It's no surprise when you look at the Sires pedigree with Street Cry and Danehill the speed and stamina influences of his sire line. The appeal of the Shocking breed is that he produces horses with speed to win races at 1400m but the toughness and versatility to get further, I'm Thunderstruck, Shock Em Ova, Defibrillate and Surprise Baby are names we are all familiar with and Tony believes with the speed influence of Green Desert on this colts maternal side, he is a colt who will be up an running as a late 2yo/early 3yo and eventually get to an optimum distance range of 1600 to 2000m.Click on the link below to view his sale page to view his photos, farm video and pedigree page.https://www.nzb.co.nz/sales/24kbb/1050For further information or to get involved email admin@tonynoonanracing.com.au or call Tony on 0418 102 972

Strasbourg - Uncovered Beauty

Described by Tony as one of the standout colts in Book 2 at the New Zealand Bloodstock Karaka Yearling Sale, this Chestnut Colt is a more precocious type than is generally found in New Zealand. Born and Bred at Little Avondale Stud, this Colt was conceived in Victoria where his sire Strasbourg stands, and this means we have the added Vobis Silver, Vobis Gold and Vobis Sires bonuses to race for in the future.Given his precocity, the Colt will be paid up for the Karaka Millions Race Series which offers over $5,000,000 in prize money for graduates each year. This colt has the strong physique and the athletic walk of a precocious 2yo and he will travel straight back from New Zealand to Victoria to begin the education process after a short break in the paddock. His sire Strasbourg, a magnificent son of I Am Invincible, was a multiple Group winning 2yo for Peter & Paul Snowdon who cost $750,000 as a yearling himself. He has been a real success in the sale ring for breeders and has hit the ground running with 2 winners from 2 runners from his first 2yo runners. His Dam Uncovered Beauty was a winner at 1200m and is by leading sire Per Incanto. On the maternal side there are many precocious 2yo's littered through the pedigree which is no surprise given the maternal Grandsire is none other than Danehill himself. Interestingly this Colt is bred has Danehill on both sides of his pedigree. At $90,000NZD we believe this colt offers outstanding value for a precocious early running type. He has been reared at the fantastic Little Avondale nursery where 41 Gr.1 winners have been born and raised and unusually for a NZ bred is Vobis and Vobis Gold eligible which is so important here in Victoria. Click here to view his NZB Sales page https://www.nzb.co.nz/sales/24kbb/1021If you would like to learn more please email admin@tonynoonanracing.com.au or call Tony on 0418102972.
